An officer saw a red 1998 Dodge pickup truck exit a store parking lot at Ogden and Clarence, then abruptly enter eastbound Ogden traffic in the 6900 block, causing drivers of other eastbound vehicles to slam on their brakes to avoid an accident. The driver, 22-year-old Angel Garcia of Cicero, stated he has a suspended driver's license and no insurance. An inventory of his truck recovered a clear plastic bag of marijuana from the rear passenger seat and another such bag in the driver door compartment, totalling .20 grams. He was cited for failure to yield while merging, driving on a suspended license and no proof of insurance. He was also ticked for the pot possession and got a $200 fine.

Broken windshield gets unlicensed driver stopped

A 1994 Mitsubishi Gallant traveling eastbound on 16th from Ridgeland attracted police attention with its broken-out windshield, so it was pulled over at 16th and Cuyler. The driver had no license or insurance.

Police stopped a black-and-silver 1994 Cadillac in the 6600 block of Ogden for having illegally tinted windows, and found unlicensed, uninsured Alfonzo Godinez, 25, of Lyons, at the wheel. A check of his name showed an extensive record of driving convictions. He said he needed to drive his mom to work and his kid to school, despite being legally forbidden to do so.

Domestic battery suspect found & arrested

Officers looking for the suspect in a domestic battery occuring in the 1500 block of Elmwood stopped the 42-year-old man as he drove a white Ram van near 16th and Highland. During the stop, he admitted his license was suspended and he had no valid insurance. He was cited for the above, for failing to signal a left turn and last but not least, the domestic battery.

Speeder suddenly carless

A 17-year-old Chicago male was spotted speeding south on East Avenue. When pulled over in the 1800 block of East, the driver admitted having no license, which was confirmed by computer. He was arrested and cited for no license, no insurance and speeding.

Alley blocked by uninsured trucks leads to owner's arrest

A call complaining of vehicles blocking an alley brought police to the 1800 block of Clinton, where they found a '98 Ford F-150 and a '98 Chevy van, both with engines running and nobody inside, totally blocking the alley. Police observed a man enter the van and drive it a few feet, until an officer approached and learned the driver, a 35-year-old Berwyn man, owned both trucks but was driving an uninsured vehicle using a suspended license. He was arrested and cited for those infractions. The man also stated he owns a hardwood flooring business that he operates from his residence; unfortunately for him, he has no license to do so.

Never-licensed driver arrested near Cermak and Lombard

A patrol officer near Lombard and Cermak noticed a red 1991 Toyota Corolla with an Illinois registration that lacked an expiration sticker. A computer check showed the registration was suspended for lack of insurance, and the driver, a 30-year-old Chicago man had never even had a driver's license. He was arrested and the car was towed.

An officer using radar detected man in a yellow 2001 Ford Mustang heading east on Ogden near Highland going 44 MPH in a 30 zone. The driver was a 23-year-old man from Cicero. He was cited for speeding, no valid driver's license, no insurance and illegal transport of alcohol -- when the car was towed, police found an empty but still-cold 12-ounce bottle of Corona beer on the floor.
