Broken windshield gets unlicensed driver stopped

A 1994 Mitsubishi Gallant traveling eastbound on 16th from Ridgeland attracted police attention with its broken-out windshield, so it was pulled over at 16th and Cuyler. The driver had no license or insurance.

An officer stopped a gold 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis with illicitly tinted windows in the 1800 block of Gunderson. The driver, a 29-year-old man from the 1300 block of East Avenue, proved to have a suspended license; he was arrested for that and also cited for the darkened windows. The Merc was turned over to the man's father, who was validly licensed.

In the 3100 block of Oak Park Avenue, a patrol officer saw a black 1996 Ford Ranger with its temporary Indiana plate partially obscured, so he pulled it over. The driver, a 16-year-old Morton West student from Stickney, said it was his dad's truck. He had no license or proof of insurance. His passenger was an 18-year-old Berwyn male who admitted to being a gang member. The driver was arrested and his mother was called.

Don't try to hide your plates -- police notice that stuff

An officer observed a vehicle on 25th near Wenonah sporting a dark cover that obstructed the view of his rear license plate. The driver, a 36-year-old man from Berwyn, was pulled over and cited for having the tinted plate cover, no insurance and no driver's license, so the car was towed.

Fake temporary plate and driver behavior lead to arrest of wanted man

An officer observed a man driving near 15th and Wenonah, then exit the car, which had an illegible Indiana temporary plate. When approached by police, the driver said he was just moving the car for streetcleaning. However, he had no insurance, no driver's license and that illegible temporary plate was a fake. So police were obliged to bring the 39-year-old Berwyn man down to the station. A check revealed he had numerous aliases and two outstanding warrants: one for DUI and another for soliciting a prostitute. He was also charged with obstructing an officer.
