A 43-year-old woman came home at 3:30 and found her front door unlocked and damaged with prymarks. When she went upstairs to speak to other tenants of the building, in the 2100 block of Kenilworth, she saw their doors, too, were in similar condition. She called police; the only thing missing from her place was $180 in cash. Other tenants included a father and son, who lost 2 IPods and an IPod player, a loss of $500; and two men who found they were missing two gold watches worth $1000 apiece and gold bracelet worth $1500.

Cousins suspected in garage burglary

A call about a burglary in the 1900 block of Harvey led police to the open rear door of an apartment building; the door to one of the flats was slightly ajar. The resident arrived and said nothing was missing. The offender(s) forced their way in through a bathroom window, 13 feet above the ground, by ripping away the screen and removing the glass panes. The panes were wet, so no fingerprints. The resident, a 30-year-old woman, said her garage had also been broken into. The garage window was pushed in and the passenger window of her Tercel was broken out, the front fender and hood damaged, and the garage door opener broken. She said two speakers and an amp worth $650 were gone. She suspects her 19 and 22-year-old male cousins.

A River Forest man who owns a building in the 1900 block of Grove called to a report a burglary there. He showed police a storage area in the rear of the building; someone had cut the lock off of it. Nothing was taken, but the storage area is next to a boiler room containing building renovation supplies.

Game system stolen

A 30-year-old Berwyn man reported he locked his residence and left at 8 AM, returning at 3:30 PM. But when he came home to the 6500 block of 27th place, he found his porch windows pushed up and left open. An exterior search of the building with Canine Officer Niko yielded no results. The man's bedroom was ransacked and a game system stolen. Fingerprints taken at the scene have been sent to the crime lab for comparison to existing offenders.

A man in the 3400 block of Highland said he went to see a doctor at 9:30 and returned at 12:30 to find his back door kicked in. The offenders stole a plasma TV, a dvd player, a laptop and a digital camera; a guitar and personal computer were damaged during the burglary.
