Middle school menace
March 23, 2007 A woman told police her daughter was beaten up at 15th and Harvey on her way home from Lincoln Middle School on Thursday, March 22. The child’s face was bruised; the offender is reportedly an 8th grader at Lincoln who is currently suspended from school. The juvenile officer was notified.

Foodfight, poolcue attack at restaurant

A 17-year-old Chicago female who ordered takeout from Guadalajara near Cermak and Oak Park Avenue, told police that when she saw the order had been filled incorrectly, she returned with the food to complain. Back at Guadalajara, she confronted the woman who had taken the order. The ordertaker, a 26-year-old woman from Forest View, replied that she had filled the order exactly as the teen had given it. The teen then claimed the employee threw salsa on her pants, so she responded by tossing the lunch order at the employee, starting a fight the cook had to break up. But when police spoke with the ordertaker, a different picture emerged: she said not only did the teen throw food first, she also punched the ordertaker in the mouth with a fist, tore the shirt off her victim and whacked her with a pool cue. Marks on her body were consistent with a pool cue attack. The teen was arrested, and at the station admitted that her initial story was inaccurate in its key elements. She was charged with battery and disorderly conduct and ordered to have no contact of any kind with the victim.

Police came to the parking lot of Murray's, behind Guadalajara restaurant at 3735 S. Harlem, and found a 21-year-old Chicago woman who said two other women had violently scratched her face and pulled her hair, then fled south on Harlem in a black Jeep Cherokee driven by a third woman. The woman showed the police multiple fresh facial scratches. A male friend of the victim witnessed the attack and told police the attackers are sisters of his ex-girlfriend, a 28-year-old Plainfield woman who was also the Jeep's driver.

Officers responded to a disturbance at La Aduana, a bar at 6736 Cermak. A 25-year-old Melrose park man said via translator that he was kicked by two Hispanic men in dark hoodies. He showed officers some deep scratches on his belly. The victim said the bar owner knows the attackers but refused to reveal their identities. The owner, a 35-year-old Berwyn man, denied knowing the bad guys and said he was the one who called the police about the attack. The victim was taken to MacNeal Hospital.

Getting to be a habit

Two officers monitoring school dismissal time near Morton West saw two males arguing, then observed one punch the other in the face. Police broke up the fight; both men were cuffed to ensure officer safety. The punchee, a 24-year-old Berwyn man, said he wished to sign a complaint. The puncher, a male 17-year-old, also of Berwyn, was charged with one battery count. At the time of his arrest, the puncher was out on bond for a previous battery.

Hit in the head but still able to drink

A 38-year-old Cicero man presented himself at the Berwyn police station, holding his head with a bloody towel. He said he had been struck in the head with a bottle at a Cicero bar following an alcohol-influenced argument with another patron. He then repaired to a second Cicero watering hole and drank for a while before deciding to complain about the bottle thing to the Berwyn police. He was taken to MacNeal for treatment and advised to contact Cicero police, since all the alleged events occurred in that jurisdiction.
