Woman ignores stopsign, flashing lights of stopped schoolbus

March 7, 2007, 3:09 PM
An officer near Irving school saw a black '95 Chevy Lumina heading west on 35th toward Clinton. A schoolbus was parked on 35th facing eastbound; it had its red stopsign extended, and was also flashing two easy-to-see red lights, because children were boarding the bus after school. The Chevy disobeyed the stopsign and passed the bus. When pulled over, the driver, a 32-year-old Berwyn woman, was asked for ID; she replied, "I left my driver's license at home." In its place, she produced a YMCA membership card. A computer check revealed she had never had a driver's license at all. After checking, the officer asked the question again, upon which she admitted to lacking a license to drive. She was arrested and charged with driving unlicensed, no proof of insurance and passing a schoolbus while children were boarding and a stopsign was plainly visible.
