Too drunk to walk, too loud to drive

March 13, 2007, 1:15 AM
A patrol officer clocked a Cadillac Escalade speeding 45 MP in a 25 MPH zone eastbound on Cermak in the 6400 block. The officer noticed that the 29-year-old driver, a man from the 2200 block of Lombard, reeked of booze, had three open beers within reach, and had two not-yet-opened 12-ounce Modelos nearby in the car. The driver's eyes were bloodshot and watery. He failed three sobriety tests, unable to keep his balance after a single step. Legal impairment is a blood-alcohol level of .08; he blew .210 on the Intoximeter. Finally, he was ticketed for illegal operation of a sound amplification system. The driver was arrested and the car towed.
