A 71-year-old woman living in the 1900 block of Elmwood was robbed in her own driveway while unloading groceries from the trunk of her car. She was approached by a man described as about 30, medium build and black, wearing a ski-cap and a waist-length jacket. He emerged from her own backyard and asked her for money. When she said she had none, the thief grabbed her leather shoulder-bag and jumped into a car parked in the alley. He drove away north toward 19th. The purse contained her Illinois driver's license, credit cards, house and car keys and $30 cash.
