Noisy car full of candy-eaters impounded

March 21, 2007, 11:53 PM
Police saw a parked green Oldsmobile with a very loud radio, occupied by two males and a female. On approach, the odor of marijuana was obvious. A look in the glove box turned up a bag of white powder, but a K-9 search was negative. A passenger, a 21-year-old Chicago man, said the bag held some Mexican candy. He was charged with unlawful possession of a lookalike substance, because of the way the candy was packaged. The driver was a 17-year-old male from the 1800 block of Wisconsin; the female was also 17, a resident of the 1800 block of Home. The car was impounded for violating the noise ordinance. That'll be $500, please.
