Man knifes couple outside bar

March 18, 2007, 2:56 AM
A man and his girlfriend were stabbed near their car in the Vacin Fairway close to Waterworks Bar at Cermak and Lombard. After leaving the bar, the pair noticed two of their tires were slashed. Nearby, a man was urinating by a wall; he began walking toward them and the boyfriend recognized him as having been in the bar earlier. The approaching man yelled "You're gonna die tonight, bitch," and began striking the boyfriend, who fought back until he felt wetness and realized he was bleeding from stab wounds. The girlfriend was calling 911 when the attacker yelled, "you too, you stupid bitch!" and stabbed her in the neck. He fled the scene as she screamed. Police caught a man based on their description, and found the knife used in the stabbing; it had been flung into a back yard in the 2100 block of Ridgeland. The offender, a 25-year-old Chicago man, claimed he had been with two friends in the bar. But when asked for their names and phone numbers he clammed up and asked for a lawyer. He was charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, and three counts aggravated battery for each victim.
