An officer followed a '97 Acura with a broken taillight as it traveled west on 13th, parallel to Roosevelt, before stopping it at 13th and Oak Park. Once stopped, the driver made unusual, frantic movements. When detectives approached, they saw his hands were covered with white powder. The driver, 42-year-old Eric McDonald of Chicago, was told to exit the car. Detectives saw more powder on the floor between the front seats. McDonald spontaneously stated that he had been about to snort some heroin when he was pulled over, so he spread the contents of his stash around the back seat to avoid arrest for narcotics. He was arrested for driving on a suspended license and the car was towed. Canine Officer Niko sniffed the Acura and alerted for drugs, but the spilled powder could not be retrieved.
