March 23, 1:19 AM
A 29-year-old Berwyn man cabbed home from Schaumburg but refused to pay upon arrival. Police were called to the passenger’s residence in the 1400 block of Grove and found the nonpaying customer wore no shirt, had dried blood on his face, a swollen eye and lip, and appeared intoxicated. The driver said the man was already like that in Schaumburg when he first got into the cab; during the ride he claimed to have "fallen from a roof" by way of explanation. The passenger’s fiancee appeared and said the man had attended a Bulls game with friends. She paid the cabbie, and the drunken man was taken to MacNeal Hospital.
LATER: 4:19 AM At MacNeal, officers had to help hospital security restrain the man, who got loud and punched walls. He kicked at officers trying to help handcuff him and was advised to give it up or be zapped with a Taser. He ignored these warnings and got Tasered for a couple of seconds, after which he became manageable. His blood alcohol level was over .300.
