Crack-abusing woman imagines acid attack

March 20, 2007, 7:02 AM
A disturbance call brought police to an apartment building in the 2200 block of Cuyler, where they found an agitated 25-year-old woman insisting someone had poured battery acid on her. Officers saw no injuries of any kind, certainly not from acid. A neighbor told them the woman had been screaming and knocking on people's doors all morning. Other witnesses said the woman used crack cocaine; police concluded this was a reasonable explanation for otherwise inexplicable behavior. When told she was going to the hospital, the woman grew highly argumentative, pushing and scratching at officers. Once at MacNeal Hospital, she resisted help and intentionally scratched a nurse, who signed a complaint against her. She was charged with five different counts of battery.
